Adventure Home, History and Identity A series of events organised by the Kreisvolkshochschule. Guided tours and visits from 2.30 p.m., duration 1.5 to 2 hours. We will visit the Catholic Parish Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the Heister Chapel and the chapel at Schönstein Castle. Each of the 3 places of worship has "history and stories" to offer. The guided, approx. two-hour hike includes the following sights: Catholic parish church Kreuzerhöhung Wissen (start). Heister Chapel Wissen-Schönstein Wissen-Schönstein Castle Chapel (end) Highlights are the famous large-scale paintings of the Kreuzerhöhung Catholic Parish Church with paintings by Peter Hecker, one of the last great church painters of the 20th century. Here you will find the largest single work by Hecker still preserved. The Heister Chapel is one of the oldest half-timbered chapels in the country. Please note: The Heister Chapel and the Castle Chapel in Wissen-Schönstein are only accessible as part of this guided tour.
