As part of our event series "Adventure Homeland," you will visit on this date the sculpture park and landscape area "in the valley."
Since 1986, around 50 artists, landscape architects, sculptors, writers, and musicians have been shaping the landscape area ›in the valley‹ between Hasselbach and Werkhausen. They utilize the natural features shaped by the Mehrbach, meadows, pastures with native cattle, and wooded areas. The site has now become an area of 11 hectares, where locally-oriented diverse artworks have been integrated, seeking a gentle dialogue with the landscape.
Visiting ›in the valley‹ in Hasselbach on Mother's Day
On Sunday, May 11, there will be a special tour through the facility for Mother's Day. In the House for August Sander, we will take a look at the role of women and mothers in Sander's peasant portraits of the 20th century. We will also take with us a quote for our further walk through the valley: "We must learn again to look more and talk less." On this day, we will specifically focus on the works of female artists. Additionally, we will visit the works that particularly deal with the theme Mother Nature.
"The most impressive garden project in my view in this country is the German Bomarzo. It is called ›in the valley‹: On over 100,000 square meters, the sculptor Erwin Wortelkamp has developed a huge natural garden landscape since the mid-1980s – right in the Westerwald. It is one of today's most magnificent gardens, with an enormous aura. It also represents a renaissance: Here, a garden has once again become a life project."
