In June, Dillenburg's Wilhelmsplatz will once again be transformed into a large open-air after-work party on Thursdays, inviting all Dillenburg residents to a sociable get-together. On a total of 4 dates in June, there will be dancing, singing, laughing, eating and drinking - all in a relaxed atmosphere in the heart of Dillenburg's city center. The "little weekend" will be kicked off together on Boxing Day!
Visitors to the AFTERWOK series can once again look forward to a varied, musical supporting program.
Singer/songwriter Magnus Ernst from North Hesse, who already wowed guests with an AFTERWORK performance last year, will kick things off on June 6. He fuses the charm and attitude of 70s folk rock with the contemporary influences of modern indie pop. Between his own songs, the multi-instrumentalist always mixes in covers from Tom Petty to Amy Winehouse.
On June 13, visitors to the event series can look forward to "Ladykiller", who will perform songs by Marius Müller-Westernhagen. Their joy of playing can be seen and heard as they breathe new and fresh life into songs such as Johnny Walker, Pfefferminz and Sexy.
It continues “out of order” on Friday, June 14 with the benefit concert “Benefiz for Kids”, in aid of the Kinderkulturzentrum (KiKuZ) e.V. (Children's Cultural Center).
From 18:00 - 20:00, the Dillenburg band “Old's Cool Project” will get everyone in the audience going. It's about music that everyone knows and likes - and yet far from the mainstream: good old musical handiwork from the 80s and 90s that immediately makes you feel “at home”. And the good thing about it: the band plays for a good cause, because donations are collected on site for the KiKuZ - a place where children can make contact with art and culture and spend time together in a safe space.
On June 20, the show continues with "Secret Tip" from Dillenburg. Secret Tip stands for blues and soul and has been touring Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia since 2011.
The improvisational band impresses with its sometimes unusual repertoire that is far removed from the usual blues clichés and its contemporary interpretation of the song material.
The "Dynamic Duo" from Bad Homburg will impress the audience on June 27 with their very own interpretations of songs and extraordinary dynamics when playing with loud and soft tones. The acoustic duo will be performing in the Oranienstadt for the first time and will not only impress with their wide musical range and versatility, but also with their personality, dedication and passion.
The events start at 5.00 pm and the musical performances take place between 6.00 pm and 8.00 pm.
The series of events is funded as a cooperation project by the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Energy, Transport and Housing's Future City Center funding program.
