15000 kilometers, 15 countries, 99 days - with the most iconic vintage car from Istanbul to the North Cape! Renowned photographer Peter Gebhard (GEO, star, View) sets out on a spectacular tour across Europe with his 44-hp T1-Bulli: the adventure begins on the Bosporus in the bustling 15-million-metropolis of Istanbul: a fascinating mix Orient atmosphere in the Bazaar district, hypermodern skyscrapers and tranquil neighborhood.
After a week in the metropolitan labyrinth, he chugs on some millennia-old routes through the archaic mountain landscapes of the Balkans. On the way he lives at the holy mountain Athos for a week with Greek monks in the monastery and meets in the wild Albanian mountains a girl, which has taught itself only by television itself German. He meets tricks in Montenegro and discovers a love island in Croatia - a tour full of fascinating contrasts.
High up in the Alps, he meets a small village in which the inhabitants still speak a language from the time of the minnesingers. In the Bavarian-Czech border area he encounters militant beer brewers and mysterious smuggler stories, in the Lausitz near the Polish border he encounters an ancient Sorbian fertility ritual with an exoticism, which one rather suspects in the Amazon. In the middle of Berlin's urban jungle, Peter Gebhard and his Bulli meet contemporary witnesses who tell him about their underground life during the Nazi era and their successful escape over the Berlin Wall.
Everywhere, the sympathetic T1 Bulli causes a stir, Peter Gebhard dives into exciting worlds and stories: With the Halligpostboten he travels together in the Wadden Sea packages, in the Swedish forests he meets dodgy alcohol smugglers and 1000-horsepower American road cruiser.
Peter Gebhard tells wonderful stories from his long Bulli journey through Europe - sometimes thoughtful and profound, sometimes humorous and whimsical. Photographically, he is very close to the people and their homeland. For the first time he used state-of-the-art drone technology for fascinating new perspectives: spectacular aerial photographs and video scenes show the dreamlike landscapes along his route to the north - and in the middle of it all is the small red and white VW Bulli!
In the end, the Bulli accidentally discovers a green T2 bus in the loneliness of the Arctic in the North Cape. Together, they look down from the cliffs to the North Sea - an adventurous road movie with a romantic happy ending!
