Giora Feidman - Friendship Tour 2023

Description

He has always been an advocate for peace and has come to value the friendships he has made as a result. For his 75th stage anniversary, the clarinettist has a very special wish: to take his message of peace around the world. Since January 2022, he has therefore been on tour with his Friendship programme to make this dream come true and to visit all his friends and fans. Giora Feidman is extending his tour and will also play further concerts worldwide in 2023 to celebrate his 75th stage anniversary.
For the first time in this line-up, but already fused by their shared tones, Giora Feidman and Vytis Šakūras make music together as the Giora Feidman Duo. They enter into a musical dialogue full of sensuality and strength that draws its audience under the spell of dancing sounds. Here, different worlds meet, inspire each other and together draw a new musical picture.
In Vytis Šakūras, Giora Feidman has found a companion who accompanies him on his musical journey with skilful playing and great passion on the grand piano and harpsichord. Šakūras already won numerous prizes and awards at international piano competitions during his studies. He performs in various chamber music ensembles with internationally renowned artists and works with internationally acclaimed opera and concert singers. His solo performances with the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Orchestra as well as his recitals in the National Philharmonic Orchestra have been recorded and broadcast live several times by the Lithuanian National Radio.
On his world tour, Giora Feidman wants to embrace the whole world, celebrate the year musically and make new friends. To do this, he also blurs his own boundaries - regardless of his ensembles and genres, his goal is to spread his message of peace and reconciliation across national borders, cultural areas, religions and generations. Music serves as his universal language: "When I pick up my instrument, I carry a spiritual message of peace, of 'shalom', into the world," says the clarinettist. Even though Giora Feidman is aware that people cannot be brought together as easily as notes, he firmly believes that music can unite them in peace and friendship. To this end, he himself combines rousing tango with touching klezmer, the excitement of modernity with the solidarity of his traditions, and thus creates a colourful programme for everyone - in fact, for the whole world.
In the past, the "Ambassador of Reconciliation" has already been honoured for his commitment to peace and his special services to reconciliation between peoples. He was awarded the International Bridge Prize for the contribution he has made to international understanding in Europe through his life's work. Feidman also holds the Grand Federal Cross of Merit, which pays tribute to his commitment to reconciliation between Jews and Germans.
