For one of his most recent series, Armin Subke has dedicated himself to the subject of cutting tools made of steel, which has been neglected by the art world to date, and in doing so has uncovered the surprising formal-aesthetic qualities of this type of object. It is the clarity of the lines of the thoroughly functional objects, paired with the reflective qualities of steel surfaces, that first and foremost characterize these pictures. The artist studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart, has taken part in many national and international exhibitions and is represented in public collections such as the Graphische Sammlung of the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart.
