The multi-award-winning screenwriter Peter Probst will present his brand-new book, "The Wild Rage of the Budgie," on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, 7:30 pm. Heinz Fischer will be the moderator.
In October 2020, Peter Probst was already a guest in Stöffel Park. Comfortably one could listen in the old smithy to the conversation between him and Heinz Fischer (known from the "Westerburger talks") and smile about his youth memories - which Probst has processed in his humorous and frank novel. "A youth in the 70s has seldom been told more beautifully," say reviews. Life goes on, and with it the experiences of the boy who becomes a young man ...
The Kunstmann publishing house reveals a few things about the content of the new work: We have to get out of here, this is hell. We live in a penitentiary. We were born to be free - the song by Ton Steine Scherben sums up Peter Gillitzer's attitude to life. His father forbids him all freedoms, unless they take place under supervision or in the parish. Peter would like to leave his conservative parental home immediately, but he is too young. And where does the free life really take place? In a commune in Gräfelfing, perhaps, which he secretly visits? Fortunately, he meets a girl ... "'Die wilde Wut des Wellensittichs' tells with a sharp eye for situational comedy and entrancing dialogues about growing up, about the ups and downs, about self-assertion and defeats, about the intrusion of politics into private life, but above all about the search for a place in society, which cannot remain as it is," says the summary.
Munich and Catholicism are Peter Probst's inner and outer home. Born in 1957, he studied modern German and Italian literature as well as Catholic theology and today works as a lecturer, among other things. He is married to the author and presenter Amelie Fried. Probst writes plays, thrillers (including several times for "Tatort") and non-fiction. He has received numerous awards, not only for his screenplay "Die Hebamme - Auf Leben und Tod". With his wife Amelie Fried, he has written children's thrillers and also a book about marriage: "Verliebt, verlobt - verrückt. Why everything speaks against marriage and even more for it".
TIP: Horst Eckert, the "grand master of the German political thriller," will be a guest in Enspel on Thursday, June 2, 2022, 7:30 pm. He, too, will read from and talk about his latest work at the Alte Schmiede - Heinz Fischer will be his discussion partner.
