Description

In Meudt, you'll take a look at the oldest surviving town hall in the Westerwald (built in the late 16th century). During your tour, you'll pass by the Neuroth Water Castle in Bilkheim, admire the bright white St. Adelphus Parish Church in Salz, and see the historic windmill in Weltersburg. The Reifenberger Schlösschen and Rothenberg in Guckheim are also impressive sights. You'll explore the Hunting and Natural History Museum in Hahn am See and enjoy a refreshing swim in the lake between Elbingen and Hahn am See on warm days.

Explore the Backesdörfer Land on this 25 km circular route. Experience the art of bread baking in several villages and tackle some challenging stretches.

Motorway exits:

  • From Cologne: A59 and A3 to B255 in Montabaur, on A3 take exit 40-Montabaur
  • From Frankfurt: A66 and A3 to B255 in Heiligenroth, on A3 take exit 40-Montabaur
  • From Koblenz: take B49 and B255 to L300 in Moschheim, on B255 exit direction U3
  • From Siegen: Take the A45 and B54 to Secker Str. in Waldmühlen
  • From Limburg: Take A3 to B255 in Heiligenroth, on A3 take exit 40-Montabaur

Nearest train stations:

  • Westerburg (7 km from Elbingen via rail trail)
  • Willmenrod (2.5 km from Weltersburg via K 95)**

Directions

Start in Meudt, on Grabenstraße, heading northeast. Ride through fields and forests, over ascents and descents, passing by attractions. The route takes you on field and forest paths, as well as less-traveled county roads. The tour takes about 2 hours without breaks.
