Description

WEYERBUSCH IN THE TIME OF RAIFFEISEN
When the 27-year-old Friedrich-Wilhelm Raiffeisen became mayor of the joint municipality of Weyerbusch with its 20 scattered villages, the population was suffering from hunger and poverty. The people on Hohe Strasse literally lived from hand to mouth and Raiffeisen made it possible for them to bake bread cheaply by building a bakery. The "Weyerbuscher Brodverein" was founded, a precursor to the co-operatives that developed later. You will learn this and much more on the guided tour through Weyerbusch, which ends at the old "Gasthof zur Post", where you will have the opportunity to stop for a bite to eat. -Guided tour by Sylvia Patt and Christine Grabowsky -Location: Raiffeisenbegegnungszentrum, Raiffeisenstraße 2-4, 57635 Weyerbusch -Time: 6.00 pm to approx. 7.00 pm Participation in the guided tour is free of charge for guests during Raiffeisen Week!
