For more than 150 years, the Westerwald Brewery has been synonymous with the traditional Hachenburger beer, which is well-known far beyond the region’s borders. The Hachenburg beer tour combines the art of brewing and a historical guided tour of the town, offering visitors a varied, unique experience, with plenty of hospitality and enjoyment along the way.
See a working brewery in action
The secrets of the art of brewing are revealed, offering participants a very special insight into the local art of brewing. Would you like a welcome pilsner? Or perhaps an unrefined beer in the Zwickel beer cellar? The Aroma Hops Tour shows you much more than a conventional brewery tour. Watch the master brewers at work and share in their passion for crystal-clear beer, fresh hops and traditional craftsmanship. The Hachenburg beer tour begins in front of the Westerwald Brewery’s production halls. Through the machine house, via the imposing maturation house to the new brewhouse, participants are given a 90-minute insight into the life of a brewery that combines state-of-the-art technology with traditional enjoyment. From its malty origins to the final bottling, the Westerwald Brewery gives visitors a fascinating insight into the brewing process.
History and hops
This tour doesn’t end in the halls of the Westerwald Brewery, however, but takes participants into the tranquil town centre of Hachenburg, where brewing history meets cultural history. After the Aroma Hops Tour, our guides will meet you and take you through the winding alleyways to two of Hachenburg’s local restaurants. Through the historic town centre, across the Old Market Square to Hachenburg Castle: amidst the many sights in Hachenburg, visitors see how tradition, culture and thirst are all connected. Guests and visitors are welcomed with true Westerwald hospitality. And if you’re feeling peckish, one of the restaurants will serve you a little traditional Westerwald delicacy.
It’s more fun in a group
The whole Hachenburg beer tour takes about four hours. The focus is sometimes artisanal, sometimes historical, but always with Hachenburg’s wealth of tradition in mind. For groups of 10 or more, you can book your own group tour. Club outings are also catered for on the Hachenburg beer tour, offering all participants an unforgettable experience.
