Detailed description
At the visitor mine Grube Edelstein, guests dive into the working world of former miners and experience authentic insights. The expert-guided tours convey exciting details about everyday life underground at that time. Without artificial staging, the mine focuses on real atmosphere and vivid presentation. It is this original character that makes the visit particularly impressive and offers families, history enthusiasts, and nature lovers a worthwhile experience.
Every 2nd Sunday of the month, tunnel tours are conducted without prior registration. Those wishing to book a tour outside these dates should please send a requested date and the number of participants using the contact form at westerwalderleben.de.
A tour lasts about 20 to 30 minutes - depending on the curiosity of the participants. The maximum number of people per tour is 10. Stroller and wheelchair accessibility is not provided. Walker accessibility must be tested on site.
Adults are provided with a safety helmet. For children, a bike helmet should be brought along if possible. After heavy rain above ground, there may be larger puddles and dripping ridges on the tunnel floor, so dirt- and moisture-repellent jackets and shoes are recommended. The temperature in the mine is about 10 °C, so warmer clothing is advisable.
Admission is free. Donations are appreciated.
