Stone Arch Bridge Limbach

Brief description

The stone arch bridge in Limbach is one of the most famous landmarks in the Hachenburger Westerwald. The historic bridge made of rubble stone has spanned the Kleine Nister since 1871 and connects the two parts of the village. With its simple construction and the idyllic location in the Nister valley, it continues to shape the townscape of Limbach to this day. Particularly hikers and walkers appreciate the peaceful atmosphere around the bridge and the natural surroundings. The stone arch bridge is an authentic piece of Westerwald history with a lot of regional character.

Detailed description

The stone arch bridge in Limbach crosses the Little Nister and is one of the most distinctive historical buildings in the region. It was built in 1871 after an older wooden bridge had become increasingly dilapidated. To this day, the bridge connects the two parts of Limbach, making it not only a monument but also an important part of village life. Its location in the middle of the Little Nister valley allows it to harmoniously integrate into the landscape of the Kroppacher Switzerland. Particularly during hikes through the Hachenburger Westerwald, it offers a lovely opportunity for a short break. Despite its popularity, the stone arch bridge does not appear staged, but maintains its original and down-to-earth character. After extensive renovation work in 2022, the listed building can be preserved permanently. Those who enjoy experiencing the Westerwald quietly and authentically will find a charming spot with much regional history and natural surroundings at the stone arch bridge.
