The Rothbach Cave is located in the forest between Hachenburg and Gehlert right by the Rothbach and is a quiet place in the midst of nature. It was built in 1997 by the Altstädter Rothbachfreunden as a place of rest, prayer, and as a shelter for hikers. To this day, it is frequently used by walkers and hiking enthusiasts for a short break.
In particular, the simple and nature-oriented atmosphere makes the charm of this small area. Inside, a Madonna figure reminds visitors of the contemplative character of the site. The Rothbach Cave is located along several hiking trails and is part of the Water Experience Trail. Those who venture there experience the calm forest landscape of the Westerwald with its brooks and springs in a particularly intense way. The cave itself enhances walks and hikes in a pleasant manner.
