Detailed description

In the heart of the historic old town of Hachenburg lies the Vogtshof, one of the oldest buildings in the city. Its history dates back to the Middle Ages and is closely linked to the development of Hachenburg . As early as the 13th century, a bailiff was mentioned in Hachenburg; later, the so-called Old Bailiwick was established at this location. Over the centuries, the building served various functions, including as a residential house, post station, town hall and administrative building. After extensive restoration work, the Vogtshof has been carefully renovated and adapted as closely as possible to its historical building fabric. Today, the ground floor houses the city library, while the upper floors contain stylish rooms that are  used for readings and weddings. Particularly, the Löwensaal and the quiet reading garden give the building a pleasant yet authentic atmosphere. The combination of half-timbering, natural stone, and restored details makes the Vogtshof a special place for culture-interested visitors. Those exploring the historic old town will find in the Vogtshof a piece of Westerwald history that is still purposefully used and preserved today.
