Digital knowledge for older people: The Digital Angel comes to Hachenburg

Joint press release FEE Hachenburg, Tourist Information Hachenburger Westerwald and DsiN e.V. The Digital Angel, the mobile advice team on digital issues from Deutschland sicher im Netz e.V., will be making a stop in Hachenburg on December 5: A digital expert will be answering questions about online applications and new media free of charge from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Alter Markt 4-6. The Digital Angel is aimed specifically at older online and offline users who would like to deepen their digital knowledge. Further information on the event in Hachenburg can be found at www.digitaler-engel.org

Hachenburg, 22.11.2024 - Shopping online, using messenger services or converting your own home into a smart home: there are numerous ways to make everyday life easier with digital aids. However, many senior citizens feel unsure about using the internet and would like to improve their online skills. This is where the Digital Angel comes in: Initiated by Deutschland sicher im Netz e.V. (DsiN), two Infomobiles are on the road nationwide for older people to spread digital skills. Experts advise older people on the safe use of digital applications and clarify individual questions in personal discussions. In cooperation with local partners working with senior citizens, they run workshops and draw attention to local training opportunities. The experts from Deutschland sicher im Netz e.V. also present explanatory videos on digitalization topics at www.digitaler-engel.org. The videos present the safe use of digital content and tools in everyday life.

"Digitalization offers numerous opportunities, especially for older people in rural and structurally weak regions. The Digital Angel helps to demonstrate opportunities for digital participation and teach skills in the use of new media through dialog," explains Katharina Kunze, project manager of the Digital Angel project. The nationwide program is funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) and cooperates with numerous senior citizens' work institutions. These include multi-generational houses, senior citizens' meeting places and local initiatives and associations for older people.

On Volunteer Day, FEE Hachenburg and the Hachenburger Westerwald Tourist Information Office will therefore be offering the opportunity to receive advice from a digital expert from the Digital Angels in a pleasant atmosphere on personal questions relating to smartphones and laptops.
