Druidensteig Hiking Day 2026: Experience Germany’s most beautiful hiking trail together

Westerwald, September 16, 2026. The Druidensteig has been named “Germany’s Most Beautiful Hiking Trail of 2026.” To celebrate this special achievement, the Westerwald Tourism Service, together with Globetrotter and the hiking magazine, is hosting the Druidensteig Hiking Day on October 17, 2026, around the Marienstatt Monastery. Hiking enthusiasts, families, and visitors can look forward to a varied day featuring guided tours, an exhibitor area, and a diverse supporting program.

 

The focus will be on seven guided hiking tours that offer different ways to discover the Druidensteig and the surrounding area. The options range from challenging hikes to varied walks around Hachenburg and to the Assberg Mine, as well as short tours specifically designed for families with children. The individual hiking tours can be booked via the event page. There, interested participants can select their preferred tour and register directly through our website. Since participant numbers are limited, early booking is recommended.

 

But even if you don’t go on a hike, a visit to Marienstatt is well worth it. A colorful program of events will take place around the Marienstatter Brauhaus from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. At the exhibitor mile, partners, tourism organizations, regional businesses, and initiatives will showcase information, hands-on activities, and special offers. Thus, the Hiking Day offers an opportunity to learn about hiking, nature, and the Westerwald, discover new things, and engage in conversation with one another.

 

A special highlight awaits visitors starting at 3 p.m.: Everyone will come together to celebrate the Druidensteig’s award as “Germany’s Most Beautiful Hiking Trail 2026” and the official presentation of the winner’s certificate.

 

The Druidensteig connects Freusburg and Hachenburg over a distance of about 94 kilometers and winds through a diverse landscape featuring numerous geological, cultural, and historical points of interest. The Hiking Day is intended not only to celebrate the award but, above all, to experience the award-winning trail together.
