Bright sunshine, spring-like temperatures and the special atmosphere of the Alter Markt: last weekend attracted numerous visitors to the historic town center of Hachenburg - and set a new record for the tourist information office.
For the first time this year, the thermometer climbed above the 20 degree mark - a fact that attracted many day-trippers and vacationers to the Westerwald region. More than 150 visitors from Germany and abroad made their way to the tourist information office on the Alter Markt last Saturday and Sunday alone. They found out about cycling and hiking trails, guided tours of the town and regional products and received individual tips for their stay.
The mixture of places of origin was particularly colorful: from Ruhrpott charm to Rhenish cheerfulness from Cologne, Düsseldorf and Bonn to guests from southern Germany - the Tourist Info team was delighted with the variety of dialects and personalities. There was also great international interest: travelers from the Netherlands, Belgium, England and Scotland were among the guests, as were visitors with unusually long journeys from Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) and even Alaska.
"We are overwhelmed by the positive response," says Lisa Effert, Head of Tourist Information. "The new domicile at the Alter Markt is particularly appreciated - bright rooms, modern information services and a friendly atmosphere make people feel welcome. One sentence from our guests that touches us again and again: 'You feel right at home here'."
