Opening of the new Wäller Tour "Bachgeflüster" - invitation to the premiere hike

Hachenburg/Streithausen - A new highlight for hiking enthusiasts in the Westerwald is officially opening: On Saturday, May 30, 2026, the Wäller Tour "Bachgeflüster" will celebrate its premiere. All nature enthusiasts, families and hiking fans are cordially invited to discover the new route together at the opening ceremony - with three free guided hikes offered on this day.

Particularly pleasing: the new Wäller Tour "Bachgeflüster" was successfully certified by the German Hiking Association as a "Quality Trail Hikeable Germany" in the "Dream Tour" category and therefore meets the highest standards in terms of route guidance, nature experience and hiking quality.

Thanks to this certification, the tour is now also included in the national marketing of the Westerwald Tourism Service. Along the trail, 14 creatively designed audio guide stations invite you to explore - recognizable by signs with QR codes that encourage you to explore.

Scanning them opens the door to exciting stories about the country and its people, reveals surprising facts about the past and uncovers hidden details about sights along the way.

The tour is a joint project of the municipalities of Atzelgift, Luckenbach, Limbach and Streithausen. The project was coordinated by the Hachenburger Westerwald Tourist Information Office and stands for close cooperation in regional tourism development.

The venue is the monastery courtyard of Marienstatt Abbey in 57629 Streithausen. Check-in begins at 9:00 am, the official opening ceremony starts at 9:30 am.

After the entertaining opening ceremony, participants can get to know the new Wäller Tour on guided hikes. Participation is free of charge, but registration is required.

There are three differently challenging tours to choose from:

Tour 1 - "Bachgeflüster All in" - 16 km
The long loop leads from Marienstatt via the Assberg slate mine, the Hohe Ley, Limbach, the Ehrenhain near Atzelgift as well as the Edelstein mine and the Tree of the Year Trail back to Marienstatt. Dogs are permitted on a lead on this tour.
Duration: approx. 5 hours (incl. 30-minute break)

Tour 2 - "Bachgeflüster light" - 10 km
The medium route runs from Marienstatt via the Tree of the Year Trail near Streithausen, Limbach, the Hohe Ley and the slate mine back to the starting point. Dogs are permitted on a lead on this tour.
Duration: approx. 3.5 hours (incl. 30-minute break)

Tour 3 - "Bachgeflüster Kids" - 4.5 km
The family-friendly version leads from Marienstatt to the slate mine and back. Dogs are not permitted on this tour. The trail is not suitable for baby carriages.
Duration: approx. 2.5 hours (incl. 30-minute break)

After the hike, there is an opportunity to stop for refreshments at the Marienstatt brewery.

The new Wäller Tour Bachgeflüster combines nature trails with the special atmosphere of babbling brooks and offers varied impressions of the Westerwald landscape. The opening event offers the ideal opportunity to be one of the first to experience the route and spend an active day in nature together.
