Detailed description

STÖFFEL VIEWING TOWER AT THE CRATER EDGE

The viewing tower, inaugurated in July 2006, offers a magnificent view over the 140-hectare area of Stöffel Park and a beautiful piece of the Westerwald.

The 16-meter high tower can be reached from the village of Stockum-Püschen and is always freely accessible.

A sign ("Stöffel Viewing Tower") in the center of Stockum-Püschen guides you uphill to the parking lot by the playground. There is plenty of space for playing and resting. The 10-kilometer permanent hiking trail "Around Stöffel Park" also passes here.

Visitors can reach the viewing tower after a few steps into the forest (turn left), which stands at the edge of the large basalt quarry.

For this project, 17 tons of steel and around EUR 100,000 were spent at the time.

Hiking Tip

You can hike to the viewing tower: It is part of the IVV circular trail around Stöffel, which is about 10 kilometers long. The starting point is Stöffel Park (www.stoeffelpark.de).
