We continue straight on via Birkenweg past the DRK hospital on the right towards the swimming pool and boat pond to the guesthouse "Zur Sonne." Wear sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate, functional clothing that protects you from cold and wet or heat and sun.
Take enough fluids with you. There are not always places to stop for food and drink.
Please wear appropriate hiking boots on the path, which also provide enough support on slippery and steep or rocky and uneven paths.
If you think certain sections of the path are not passable for you, you should avoid them. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural trails can become muddy and slippery.
Especially in autumn, be aware that fallen leaves can cover unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. You should expect impairments of this kind when hiking.
Although the path is very well marked throughout, for safety reasons you should always have an appropriate hiking map with you.
Since there is catering only in Hachenburg and Alpenrod, a packed lunch is recommended for the remaining parts of the hike.
After our hike, we should also take time to visit the Landscape Museum to learn about the former life of the Westerwald people.
