Description

Starting from the Haus des Gastes in Limbach, we first cross the Kleine Nister over the old Limbach stone arch bridge and then pass the interesting village museum. On our way through the forest, we enjoy the intense experience of nature and listen to the birds chirping. To enjoy a wide-ranging view of the beautiful Kroppacher Schweiz, we make sure to take a detour to the Hartenberg viewpoint. Soon we reach the valley of the Große Nister and cross it right away over the Wilhelm footbridge. Now we follow the river calmly, which leads us straight to the "German Corner of the Westerwald". We pause a little at this romantic spot before following the Kleine Nister and passing the Lützelauer Mill on the way back to Limbach.

Safety instructions

  • Wear sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate, practical clothing that protects you from cold and wet or heat and sun.

  • Bring enough fluids. There are not everywhere places to eat.

  • Please wear appropriate hiking boots that give you enough grip even on slippery and steep or rocky and uneven paths.

  • If you think some sections of the path are not passable for you, you should avoid them. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths may have muddy and slippery sections.

  • Especially in autumn, be aware that fallen leaves on the ground can conceal unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. You have to expect path restrictions of this kind when hiking.

  • Although the path is very well marked throughout, you should always carry a suitable hiking map for safety reasons.

Equipment

Although there are places to eat in Limbach and Heuzert, it is recommended to bring packed food.
