Biohof Hachenburg GbR

Detailed description

Iris and Christoph Mies and their two sons Philipp and Tobias represent the second and third generation at the current organic farm Hachenburg. Together with their team, they cultivate approximately 180 hectares of extensive grassland in and around their beautiful hometown of Hachenburg in the Westerwald according to strict Bioland guidelines. On the farm, the mother cows of the French Limousin breed (partially crossed with Wagyu) graze year-round in family groups outdoors and are fed exclusively organic feed, free from genetic engineering and antibiotics. The species-appropriate husbandry of the animals and their welfare are very important to the Mies family – from raising the animals to stress-free slaughter directly in the pasture, which has positive effects on the high quality of the meat. Thus, the beef has its own story: with this origin guarantee, the meat matures for at least 14 days before it is hand-cut and packaged for kitchen use.

The meat from the cows is marketed directly through the Hachenburg “Beef Boxes.” Three and seven-kilogram packages can be pre-ordered and will be ready for pickup at the farm at the designated time. For the Mies family, it is a natural wish that long animal transports, feedlot farming, and large slaughterhouses are abolished and pasture-based farming with on-site slaughter in “organic quality” like at the organic farm Hachenburg becomes more than logical!

Furthermore, the Mies organic farm produces wood chips for their own use and for block heating plants in the Westerwald. Here, the farming family generates electricity with their own photovoltaic systems and operates their own organic compost site, which is also appreciated by garden lovers for their beds.
