In Hattert near Hachenburg is Hof Scheffen, which consolidates several separate businesses under its name.
There is the arable farming operation which conventionally grows grains, rapeseed, and beans. Under the name Zaunkönig, there is a fence construction and landscaping business, and there is also a separate partnership for solar power generation. Those who want to act regionally conscious during Christmas will find freshly cut Christmas trees from their own cultivation at Hof Scheffen.
In the network of natural enjoyment, the three bring in an organic farm that exclusively manages grassland and maintains several mother cow herds. The organic farming business has about 190 cattle, mainly of the Limousin breed, as well as a small Galloway herd. Recently, they have started raising organic laying hens. Currently, around 250 chickens and three roosters populate the pastures around the chicken mobile.
Since the end of March 2023, "Der Laden" has opened, a self-service farm shop. Organic meat and chicken eggs from their own production, as well as other regional and organic products can be found here.
Honey, juices, vinegars, oils, potatoes, dairy products, and pasta, as well as coffee from a local roastery, spice blends, and ice cream from the Westerwald are also part of the offer. Since the shop is still quite young, the range is still being developed and will surely continue to grow in the future.
