Typical Siegerland: mines, grottos, and tunnels along the way bring the centuries-old mining history of the region to life. The last stage of the Natursteig Sieg leads you over lonely forest paths to the medieval Freusburg high above the Sieg.

The path from Kirchen to Mudersbach begins with a 2 km long access route. The path around and through the small village of Katzenbach, to Freusburg and through the Giebelwald, has its special charms. A forest rejuvenation area offers surprising views. The Mariengrotto above Mudersbach is the final mosaic. Before that, you marvel at the 200 m long Erzquell tunnel, enjoy the long forest passage from Freusburg to the soldier's grave, and pass a cozy shelter. The ascent from the Sieg valley and the small hamlet Freusburger Mühle is steep. Its namesake, however, is located 500 m before and is now used as a run-of-river power plant for electricity generation. The path to Freusburg, the narrow passage behind Katzenbach, the small hamlet, the wonderful view above Katzenbach of the Sieg mountains, the valley, the castle in the distance, and the swinging silhouettes of the basin – simply beautiful.©W&A Marketing & Verlag GmbH
