Römergraben

Detailed description

The Römergraben does not originate from the Romans, but from the time of the Franks, 5 centuries after the Romans. It is a rampart belonging to a fortification. Together with the Roman limes, it is one of the most significant archaeological monuments in the Eastern Westerwald.

This rampart, enjoyed as a path with old, beautiful tree growth and a magnificent panoramic view of the Rhine Valley, attracts many hikers and walkers.

Brief description

The Roman trench was erroneously associated with the Limes as an earthworks facility during Roman times due to false traditions.
