The first via ferrata of its kind in the Westerwald was built on the Hölderstein, a foothill of the Middle Rhine Slate Mountains. Use is at your own risk. An approx. 300 metre long route was built, on which you have to overcome a height difference of approx. 80 metres using cramps, stirrups, pins, three ladders and a bridge. The trail can be reached from the hikers' car park near Breitscheid via the yellow-marked access path of the Westerwaldsteig.
